At First day

The main opposition BNP today walked out of the Jatiya Sangsad ahead of President Iajuddin Ahmed's speech in protest against his failure to hold the ninth parliamentary elections within 90 days.

Iajuddin had taken oath as the head of the caretaker government after the end of the eighth parliament and failed to keep his oath, BNP MP Salauddin Quader Chowdhury told reporters after walking out of the House.

"We did not want to hear the speech of a failed president," Chowdhury said.

"According to the constitution, the caretaker government is accountable to the president, but Iajuddin broke his vows by helping to implement the minus two formula during the last two years", he added.

He also raised allegations against the president to deprive people from their franchised to choose representatives and the nation from a democratically elected government over the last two years.
